Apartment Availability Drifts Higher in Texas

Share of Units on Market Still Trend Below Pre-Crisis Norms

The share of multifamily units that are actively being marketed as available has risen across the four major markets of Texas, but rates remain below their pre-crisis norms. Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio collectively posted an average availability rate of 5.4% through July, above the 4.2% figure last seen in August 2021.
