Church of Scientology's $5.5M Buy

Purchases 701 Montgomery St. in San Francisco

The Church of Scientology purchased 701 Montgomery St. in San Francisco, CA for a confirmed $5.542 million, or $281.19 per square foot, from GSR Corp. Built in 1911, the 19,709-square-foot office building once served as Transamerica Corp’s headquarters, prior to construction of the famous "Pyramid building." The purchase closed after a former tenant, 24 Hour Fitness, negotiated a lease termination. The church is relocating from 83 McAllister St. Richard Johnson of Grubb & Ellis represented the buyer. Andrew Stone of GVA Whitney Cressman represented the seller.
