New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies [SCPS] will locate its new satellite center in the Woolworth Building at 233 Broadway. The university signed a 15-year lease for 94,076 square feet encompassing the entire 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors. The satellite center will have its own entrance lobby at 15 Barclay Street on the building’s south side and will house more than 40 classrooms, four computer labs and conference space. More than 1,000 students are expected to attend classes each semester when the center becomes fully operational in January 2003. "Locating our new center in the Woolworth Building, just blocks away from the World Trade Center site and Wall Street, reflects New York University’s unceasing commitment to the future of our city and our fellow New Yorkers," said Dean David Finney. "With this new location, NYU and SCPS aim to help stimulate economic activity in Lower Manhattan by anchoring people to the neighborhood, in close proximity to financial service firms and other knowledge-based industries, and add to the whole effort of building a true 24-hour community there." Representing the building ownership, a joint venture between Witfoff Group and Cammeby's International, was Thomas Hettler, Brian Siegel and David Ofman of NAI/Lawrence. Richard Landman of the NYU Real Estate Corp. negotiated the lease for NYU.
