The Competition and Markets Authority, the independent non-ministerial government department responsible for carrying out investigations into mergers, markets and the regulated industries and enforcing competition and consumer law, has blocked the proposed mega supermarket merger between Sainsbury’s and Walmart-owned ASDA.
