The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), created in October under orders from Congress by the Securities and Exchange Commission, signed a lease for 47,716 square feet at 1666 K St. NW in Washington, DC. Built in 1972 by Charles E. Smith, 1666 K is a Class-A, 277,556-square-foot office building in the heart of the CBD. The PCAOB, set up to police corporate auditors after a wave of accounting scandals, signed the lease Jan. 3rd for 10 years and started moving in this week. The board will be occupying the entire 8th and 9th floors, which was formerly occupied by Arthur Andersen LLP. Sandy Michaels, Kent Gubler and Curtis Paul of Charles E. Smith Commercial represented their company in-house as the landlord. Scott Leachman of Trammell Crow Co. represented the PCAOB.
