The Los Angeles County jobs report for January, released after an extended delay, shows the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate at 5.5%, down 0.1% from 5.6% in December. This marks the second consecutive month of declines in the jobless rate, and marks the lowest rate observed since March 2024. The decline in the unemployment rate primarily resulted from a 0.2% increase in the civilian labor force of 8,600 people, accompanied by a minimal 0.80% decrease of 2,300 persons in seasonally adjusted unemployment. Over the three months ending Jan. 31, the civilian labor force rebounded, surpassing 5.1 million after remaining around 5.07 million from March to August 2025.
