The Pampered Chef Ltd., a direct seller of high-quality kitchen tools and pantry food items, announced the grand opening of its 780,000-square foot world headquarters in Addison, IL. The new facility at One Pampered Chef Lane near the corner of Swift and Army Trail roads includes administrative offices, state-of-the-art test kitchens, a corporate museum and distribution center. The facility on 43 acres includes 180,000 square feet of office space and a 600,000-square-foot distribution center with the capacity to ship 14,600 orders a day. It also features a clay tile roof, a 36-foot clear ceiling height, 52 truck docks, and 1,100 parking spaces. Other amenities of the building include a 6,000-square-foot training room, six state-of-the-art test kitchens, a video kitchen for the taping of shows, six elevators, and dining rooms with slate, limestone, and wood flooring. A corporate museum, called Heritage Hall, will highlight the company's history. Kajima Construction Services Inc. completed construction of the facility this month. Berkshire Hathaway Inc., an Omaha-based investment firm owned by billionaire Warren Buffett, is to acquire the Pampered Chef by the end of this year.
