The contest to be the home of online retailer Amazon's second headquarters began last year with 238 bidding cities and went on to include competing economic proposals, dueling YouTube videos, and even a much-discussed live cactus. In the end, Amazon's selection of Arlington, Virginia, and New York City -- with an operations center thrown in for Nashville, Tennessee -- from among 20 finalists is already sparking discussion on how the process could have been better run.
