Steven G. and Lynnette E. Sands purchased La Belle Epoque, the first known bed and breakfast inn located at 1386 Calistoga Ave. in Napa, CA, for a reported $1.36 million, or $259.04 per square foot, from Georgia Jump Trust. The Victorian building was constructed in 1893 and originally built as a home for the Schwartz family. In 1903, the Silva family, owners of the Napa Soda Spring Mineral Water Co., purchased the house and remained there until 1941. In 1981, Blanca Semmler purchased the home and converted it into one of the first bed and breakfast in the Napa Valley. The two-story building totals 5,250 square feet on 9,095 acres with six parking spaces. The property is located in the historic Old Town Napa close to the wineries, which gave rise to the name of the seven guest rooms: the Zinfandel, the Pinot Noir, the Gamay, the Merlot, the Chardonnay, the Cabernet and the Champagne room.
