George Abernathy, based in La Mesa, purchased the 11-unit apartment building located at 2821 Keats St. in San Diego. Anna Alice McMenomy, Tr. sold the property for $1.35 million, approximately $123,000 per unit. The property was not on the market at the time of sale; the buyer approached the seller directly. The sale was the buyer's upleg in a 1031 exchange. The apartment building, adjacent to the former Naval Training Center in San Diego, consists of 8 one-bedroom/one-bath units and 3 two-bedroom/one-bath units. The rents range from $850 to $1,000 per month. Craig Rubin of Rubin & Associates represented both the buyer and the seller.
