Media and entertainment giant Sky is looking to sublease or assign its lease for two warehouses totalling 300,000 square feet at Panattoni's Borehamwood Logistics Park next to its massive studio complex in Elstree, Hertfordshire.
CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield have been appointed to market the lease for Borehamwood 159, a 159,715-square-foot hub, and Borehamwood 141, an 140,950-square-foot hub.
Panattoni, the largest logistics real estate developer in the UK and Europe, let the last of its three units at the logistics park to Sky in November 2022. It was understood that the lease of the two hubs was for the expansion of Sky's neighbouring studio complex to host new film and TV productions from Sky and sister-company NBCUniversal as both looked to produce more content in the UK.
In March Hertsmere Borough Council's planning committee threw out the company's proposals for a 772,601-square feet expansion of its Sky Studios Elstree North, proposed for green belt land.
At the time, Sky said it was disappointed that the committee contradicted officers' advice and refused planning consent.
"Before moving forward, we will be taking some time to assess our next steps and will engage further with the council, planning officers and community stakeholders," a spokesperson said.
"We remain committed to delivering our plans for Sky Studios Elstree North which will deliver significant local and national benefits, including creating 2,000 new jobs and unlocking £2 billion of production investment in the UK."
All parties declined to comment.
