CarrAmerica Completes Scripps Build-Out

Scripps Research Institute to Join La Jolla Spectrum

CarrAmerica Realty Corp.'s subsidiary, CarrAmerica Development, Inc., has completed the first phase of a 77,000-square-foot laboratory build out for The Scripps Research Institute at La Jolla Spectrum Technology Park in San Diego. Scripps will occupy 35,000 square feet of Building B in early January and will completely occupy the building by year-end 2002. CarrAmerica's managing director for southern California, Malcolm O'Donnell, commented, "We are pleased to have Scripps, a world leader in biomedical research, in our La Jolla Spectrum Technology Park project. The addition of Scripps as a customer is consistent with CarrAmerica's goal of expanding our biotech focus in San Diego as well as nationally." La Jolla Spectrum Technology Park, located at 3115 and 3215 Merryfield Row, offers dramatic canyon and mountain views. Just minutes from the Pacific Ocean and Torrey Pines Golf Course, La Jolla Spectrum has easy access to Interstate 5 and 805. The Scripps' facility is the second phase of a two-building, 157,000-square-foot office/ technology project. The first phase, Building A, is occupied by the Novartis Institute for Functional Genomics, and Syngenta. CarrAmerica's San Diego portfolio includes 21 buildings containing more than 1 million square feet.
