Borders Books & Music will open a 33,000-square-foot store on the southwest corner of 6th Ave. and G St. in downtown San Diego this spring. The bi-level store will be located in the Gaslamp District and is expected to attract tourists in addition to local shoppers. Borders selected the location based on a variety of factors including demographics, traffic patterns, the availability of parking and the attractiveness of the site. Borders will offer downtown San Diego residents a comfortable place to explore over 200,000 book, music, DVD and periodical titles, as well as the opportunity to experience cutting-edge service technology backed by a knowledgeable staff with a commitment to the community. In addition, Borders will operate a Borders Cafe Espresso, with a variety of coffees, teas, and light lunch items, at the site. "Borders takes great pride in fostering strong relationships with the communities we serve," said Tammy Sanchez, district manager for the new San Diego location. "One way we do this is by holding a number of free events such as lectures, author signings, musical performances, children's activities and 'Benefit Days' that support local charities." San Diego-based LandGrant Developement is the developer and owner of the new Borders location.
