Kilroy Realty Corp., a Southern California-based real estate investment trust founded in 1947, will relocate its corporate headquarters to the Westside. Kilroy is moving from its 35,000-square-foot space at the Kilroy Airport Center located at 2250 East Imperial Highway in El Segundo, CA where the company has been based for more than half a century. The REIT will occupy more than 30,000 square feet at another of its owned buildings, the Westside Media Center building Phase II at 12200 West Olympic Blvd. in Los Angeles. DirecTV has signed a 7-year lease for a total of 182,000 square feet at the two buildings in Kilroy Airport Center, 2250 and 2240 East Imperial Highway. DirecTV is gradually moving into a total 10 floors, which will include Kilroy's previous corporate office space. Kilroy Realty's new headquarters is a 4-story, 151,000-square-foot building that finished construction in 2000. The original anchor for the Phase II building was going to be 'E-Toys', however, its business prospects dwindled along with the dot.coms. Phase I of the Westside Media Center, is fully leased by AT&T, while Phase III, which will open this month, still lacks tenant commitments. Kilroy Realty hired Insignia/ESG to lease that space.
