The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors announced its selections for the design and development teams for the future concert hall complex, Symphony Center. The 6.2-acre property, located at the corner of Peachtree Street and 14th Street, will be co-developed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) and Hines. The announcement was made following an in-depth process that included trips to concert halls around the world, along with the involvement of board and community members, musicians, staff and design professionals. The new concert hall will serve as the orchestra's full-time performance, rehearsal, teaching and administrative home. Additionally, the site is slated to include two 35 to 40-story mixed-use residential, hotel and restaurant towers. Kirkegaard Associates will be responsible for all areas of architectural acoustics, Auerbach & Associates will be responsible for theatrical and technology issues and Cesar Pelli & Associates will handle strategic land development scenarios.
