HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee—Membership in the STR SHARE Center has surpassed 500 universities with more than 100 joining through the first eight months of 2015. The 526 member schools represent 56 countries.
Launched in 2011, the SHARE (Supporting Hotel-related Academic Research and Education) Center provides universities with hotel and tourism data as well as related resources for research, student projects and use in the classroom. Resources provided through the SHARE Center include Trend reports, Pipeline data, HOST reports, data files, publications and samples of the STAR Report.
“We serve as an industry representative to academic organizations,” said Steve Hood, STR’s senior VP for research and founding director of the SHARE Center. “Our data and resources help schools stay up-to-date on industry trends and increase the industry relevance of research and education within their program.”
“SHARE Center helps us connect with the next generation of industry leaders from around the world,” said Amanda Hite, STR’s president and COO. “It is gratifying to see academic institutions committed to advancing that generation’s hotel-related education by exposing them to tools that they can utilize during their careers. More graduates are entering the workplace with an expanded skillset as a result of the data and resources provided through the SHARE Center.”
Through the SHARE Center, students and professors also have access to Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA), jointly offered with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). More than 3,500 students have received the certification worldwide, and more than 1,000 professors from more than 400 schools have participated in free train-the-trainer sessions.
