Real estate investment firm London and Regional Properties is now L+R after announcing a transformation into a unified platform and single brand containing four verticals: hotels, commercial real estate, private credit and ventures.

The private investment firm's wholly owned portfolio across five countries is valued at £10 billion ($13.7 billion), according to a news release.

L+R's hotels component has been rebranded under the umbrella of Iconic Hotels & Resorts, a merger of the former Iconic Luxury Hotels and L&R Hotels. The entity has a new global headquarters in London, 7,000 square feet of office space at 55 Baker St. in London just north of Portman Square.

A news release from L+R said it “aims to further establish itself as a uniquely positioned sector specialist and disrupt the traditional general partner/operating partner model. The firm offers prospective capital partners a vertically integrated operating platform underpinned by ‘unmatched alignment of interest.’”

“This alignment is demonstrated through L+R’s unique willingness and ability to invest significant equity — well in excess of industry standard general partner/operating partner norms — alongside its partners in scalable, thematic investment strategies,” the release added.

Hotels in that portfolio include the 596-room Fairmont Monte Carlo; 243-room Nobu Hotels London Portman Square; 222-room Brussels Marriott Hotel Grand Place; 196-room Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort; and 48-room Cliveden House & Spa.

L+R has also named Shan Kanagasingham as chief operating officer of Iconic Hotels & Resorts.

For nearly the last nine years, Kanagasingham has been senior vice president, operations, openings and transitions at Auberge Collection. Previously, she has held roles at SH Hotels & Resorts, Denihan Hospitality Group and the 393-room Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.

In a LinkedIn post, L+R said the firm’s metamorphosis “reflects years of strategic investment in our people, systems and infrastructure. Together with our Atlas Hotels platform — Europe’s largest Holiday Inn Express franchisee — we’re positioned to become the partner of choice for major investors seeking access to opportunities across the international hospitality landscape.”

L+R also has Destinations Resorts, a leisure-oriented hotel brand focusing on beach, country and resort destinations in Europe, U.S. and Caribbean; Urban Properties, a city center-focused brand in gateway markets; and LRO Hospitality, a pan-European core hotel investment vehicle.

Leicester, England-based Atlas Hotels will continue to operate as a standalone business under the leadership of Sean Lowe, its CEO since 2017.
