Unemployment rises in January

San Diego’s unemployment rate increased from a revised 4.4% at the end of 2025 to 4.7% in January, according to the latest jobs report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That was higher than last January’s estimate of 4.5%, though below the California statewide rate of 5.5%.
