Unemployment rate rises to a four-year high in Sacramento

Employers shed more office-using jobs

The Sacramento region’s unemployment rate ticked up to 5.6% in July, according to the latest jobs report from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. That was up from 5.3% in June, and 50 basis points above last July’s rate. July’s local rate was the highest since 2021 but still below the statewide rate of 6.1%.
