Seattle Sees Near-Record Office Sales

Despite High Vacancy, Investors Grab Opportunities in the City Core

In 2021, Seattle saw one of its highest office sales volumes on record, second only to 2019, a year with unusually high sales due to an increase in the state excise tax going into effect in January 2020. This change raised the cost of transactions for high-value assets, resulting in a spike in sales at the end of 2019, as sellers rushed to complete deals.
