Retail leasing in Indianapolis has been tapering off in 2024

Pockets of demand exist amid cooling leasing volume

Approaching the fourth quarter, retail leasing in Indianapolis has totaled just over 1 million square feet this year, representing a sizeable decline. With three months remaining in the year, the amount of space leased during 2024 is roughly 46% of last year's 2.2 million square feet leased. The retail sector in Indianapolis has been resilient over the past five years, averaging 2.4 million square feet leased per year over this period.
