A 25-acre site in the northern suburbs of Asheville, North Carolina, is located in a fast-growing area. But the property remained undeveloped for years.
Carlisle Residential Properties and Lomax Construction's completion of the Highline North apartment complex finally made good on what many local real estate experts thought was a successful project waiting to happen. The project was awarded the 2024 CoStar Impact Award for multifamily development of the year in Asheville, as judged by a local team of real estate professionals familiar with the market.
The 296-unit multifamily complex offers one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. A dog park, fitness center, pool, bike and kayak garage, grilling stations, gaming table, wet bar and coffee bar round out the amenities package.
The northern Asheville suburbs, including the town of Weaverville, are one of the fastest-growing areas of western North Carolina.
About the Project: Highline North opened in December at 602 Highline Drive in Asheville's Woodfin neighborhood. Carlisle and Lomax Construction were the development partners. The property was 88% leased in late January, according to Carlisle.
What the Judges Said: The site sat undeveloped for years, but "the developer was finally able to creatively put it together and activate, in an appropriate way, an area of town that is ripe for development," said Austin Walker, commercial real estate broker at Whitney Commercial Real Estate Services.
