Veteran industrial and office broker Mike Newton has returned to NAI Puget Sound Properties, where he spent much of the first half of his professional real estate brokerage career, as demand for warehouses and storage properties is expected to pick up.

Newton is rejoining NAI as senior vice president in the brokerage's Bellevue office after more than 12 years at Seattle-based real estate services firm Kidder Mathews.

He specializes in industrial and office sales and leasing in Pierce County and the Kent Valley.

Newton was recently part of a Kidder Mathews team that represented Alterra IOS — one of the largest players in the fast-growing U.S. industrial outdoor storage sector — in its purchase last summer of an 18-acre storage site near Tacoma, Washington.

Brokerages such as NAI, Kidder and JLL have focused on adding talent in industrial real estate — one of the hottest property sectors since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic — as they position for what many industry professionals believe will be a robust market recovery next year.

Newton joined NAI Puget Sound in 2001 and left for Kidder Mathews in 2013. He began his career in Orange County, California, and moved to Washington in 1992.

"He was one of our original brokers, and we’ve always admired both his talent and his character," NAI Principal Arie Salomon said in a statement. "We’re very happy to have him on the team again."
