Debenhams mulls 10 store closures as part of turnaround plan

Debenhams could close up to ten stores over the next five years as part of a turnaround strategy aimed at returning the business to growth and boosting its appeal to shoppers both online and on the high street.

Under plans set out today following a strategic review of the business, chief executive Sergio Bucher said the company will revamp its 176 department stores and turn them into “destinations for social shopping” by offering new products as well as introducing more services and experiences such as nail bars and cafes.
