Casey Gibson has joined family-owned commercial real estate firm Sterling Realty Organization in the newly minted role of asset management director in a Puget Sound office market where technology giant Amazon's growth is serving as a catalyst for demand.

Gibson will work with Sterling Realty Vice President Ivor Parkes and other executives at the firm based in Bellevue, Washington, to manage leasing and portfolio strategy and oversee the landlord’s relationships with tenants.

Although downtown Bellevue's office market is experiencing some moderation and has seen its vacancy rate tick up due partly to expiring Microsoft leases, "it has still outperformed the overall Puget Sound region," according to a CoStar Market Analytics report.

"The area continues to see declining availability as new tenants take additional space off the market and in-place tenants renew leases," CoStar said in the report. "Amazon's growth in the submarket is a significant driver, and the company has a substantial presence in the area. The company topped 11,000 employees assigned to Downtown Bellevue offices last year, and it plans to expand to 25,000."

He previously worked as leasing director for Seattle-based Martin Selig Real Estate. Before that, Gibson served as an associate vice president at global real estate services firm Colliers, where he focused on office, industrial and flex leasing before expanding into investment property sales.

Sterling Realty Organization, a fifth-generation firm also known as SRO that was founded 114 years ago by John Danz, has 2.3 million square feet of office, retail and transit-oriented development sites across the Puget Sound and Salt Lake City markets.

SRO’s holdings include Symetra Center in downtown Bellevue, where Silicon Valley remote work giant Zoom Communications signed a deal about a year ago to open its first offices in greater Seattle. The firm recently finished a renovation of the ground floor and lobby of the 450,000-square-foot office property.

Gibson, a Seattle native who has 15 years of commercial real estate industry experience, holds degrees in real estate and business administration from the University of Washington.
