Unite fund targets Birmingham and Durham for student developments

Unite Students' UK Student Accommodation Fund (USAF) has bought developments in Durham and Birmingham, with a combined cost of £56m, and disposed of a scheme in London for £42m as part of its focus on investing in larger and better value housing for students.

The acquisitions, which comprise a 222-bed development in Durham and a 418-bed scheme in Selly Oak, are expected to generate a yield on cost of 6.3% in their first full year of operation. Unite's share of the cost is £12.9m.
