Seattle Multifamily Sees Slowest First Quarter Since Great Recession

Reflecting a national trend, apartment demand in the Seattle metropolitan area remained low in the first quarter of 2023. Net absorption — the change in units occupied over a given period — was only a few dozen units. While it is an improvement over the prior quarter, it represents one of the weakest starts of the year for apartment demand in Seattle since 2009.
