NAMA comes out fighting over £1.3bn Project Eagle sale

Ireland’s National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) has “categorically rejected” the key conclusions of a highly critical report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) into its sale of Project Eagle to Cerberus, saying the £1.322bn price was the best achievable result in a move that throws the spotlight on the discount rate applied to major commercial real estate loan portfolio sales.

The Irish government has said it will hold an official inquiry into the sale following the report from public spending watchdog C&AG published last Wednesday (14 September) which found that the sale involved a loss to the taxpayer of circa £190m (220m).
