Balfour Beatty backs out of £1bn One Nine Elms contract

Balfour Beatty has walked away from a contract to build a £1bn residential skyscraper scheme in Nine Elms, becoming the second firm to do so this year.

In a joint statement Wanda One, the Chinese developer behind One Nine Elms, and Balfour Beatty said they had been unable to come to an agreement on the terms that would have seen the construction firm appointed the main contractor on the  scheme.
