London snowdome plans melt away

Westfield and the London Legacy Development Corporation have returned to the drawing board after deciding against Boris Johnson-endorsed plans to build one of the world’s largest indoor ski resorts on a site next to the Stratford City shopping centre in east London, CoStar News can reveal.

The plans for a world-class indoor ski centre, which had aimed to pull in millions of tourists a year to Stratford, were confirmed by then mayor Boris Johnson in 2013 who said they underscored the “massive confidence in this area from investors which is delivering a real payback for taxpayers in terms of jobs and the regeneration of east London.”
