Renowned for flavors such as banana bourbon caramel, cherry blossom cheesecake and mint chocolate brownie, a Washington, D.C., ice cream shop chain plans to soon sprinkle a few new locations throughout the metropolitan region.
Ice Cream Jubilee, a District dessert staple born just over a decade ago, plans to soon open a new spot in the nation’s capital, according to its website. Earlier this month, it revealed it intended to bring a location this summer to Baltimore, the company said in a statement posted online.
An exact timeline for when Ice Cream Jubilee would start welcoming customers at 4620 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Washington's Tenleytown neighborhood and at the Harbor Point area of Baltimore was not disclosed online.
The company did not immediately respond to email requests for comment.
The nearly 1,300-square-foot Tenleytown spot is in the ground floor retail area of an office-to-residential development, CoStar data shows. The specific address for the Baltimore location has yet to be disclosed publicly.
Frozen treat enthusiasts around the nation’s capital can expect a handful of ice cream shops to open in the future, even as retail availability remains tight in the Washington area. The region's low retail vacancy rate has led to above-average rent growth, according to a CoStar Market Analytics report. The outlook for the market appears positive for the remainder of the year, the report said.

Demand for new ice cream shop space is not likely to melt any time soon in or around the Washington, D.C., area as chains seek brick-and-mortar venues and new sellers materialize.
Ice Cream Jubilee’s pending openings follow its launch of operations at 151 W. Falls Station Blvd. in the Falls Church neighborhood of Northern Virginia earlier this month. The chain also has stores in the Georgetown and Navy Yard neighborhoods of the District,the Reston and Ballston neighborhoods of Northern Virginia, and one in College Park, Maryland.
Meanwhile, fellow ice cream store chain Van Leeuwen intends to open a location at 400 King St. in Alexandria, Virginia, according to its website. That store will fill just over 1,200 square feet, according to CoStar data.
Yala Greek Ice Cream plans to open its first shop in the nation’s capital this summer in Georgetown at 3143 N St. NW, also taking on approximately 1,200 square feet, CoStar data shows.
A year ago, Maryland-based chain The Charmery opened its first Washington location at 7175 12th St. NW.
Plus, celebrity Tyra Banks opened pop-up shop Smize last year in the District's Woodley Park neighborhood, which PoPville reported could come back to the area this year.
Ice cream makers contribute $11.4 billion to the U.S. economy and support 27,100 dairy industry jobs, according to an economic impact report from the International Dairy Foods Association.
