Flawed carbon accounting metrics undermine greener decision-making 

Net-zero targets, certifications and benchmarks are designed to reward good behaviour, but too often they reward what is easiest to measure, not what genuinely reduces environmental harm. As the introduction of the Future Buildings Standard next year ups the ante on sustainability for building owners, operators and occupiers, this risks turning sustainability into an exercise in compliance rather than real-world impact.
