Boris yellow cards major resi makeover of West Ham's Upton Park

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has strongly criticised Galliard Homes plans for a major redevelopment of West Ham United’s soon to be vacated home at Upton Park in east London for not including affordable housing.

Galliard Homes vehicle Boleyn Phoenix has lodged plans for the demolition of the West Ham United Football Club ground, which the club will vacate to move to the London 2012 Olympic Stadium for the 2016-17 season. The plans comprise  a comprehensive redevelopment with 15 new buildings of up to 13 storeys to provide 838 residential units, 476 sq m of Class D1 floorspace and 402 sq m of flexible commercial uses together with associated basement, cycle parking, car parking, highways, landscaping including a memorial for Sir Bobby Moore and infrastructure works.
