Westfield and Hammerson's £1bn battle gets under way

The public inquiry into the compulsory purchase order (CPO) for Westfield and Hammerson's £1bn redevelopment of Croydon's Whitgift Centre begins tomorrow with close to 140 objections having been lodged against what is set to be one of the UK’s largest shopping centre developments. The public inquiry into the CPO required to enable Westfield and Hammersons’s giant Whitgift Centre development plans begins tomorrow in the community space at Croydon council’s civic centre in Bernard Weatherill House. It is scheduled to start at 10am (3 February) and is expected to finish on 11 March 2015.
