Unemployment rate rises sharply in San Diego

Summer recess leads to more unemployment claims

June job reports in San Diego typically show rising unemployment due to summer recess for the region’s schools; however, the month-over-month rise of the unemployment rate from 4% in May to 4.9% in June was one of the largest increases for the month in the past decade. That was according to the latest report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
