LONDON—The Europe hotel development pipeline comprises 922 hotels totalling 149,235 rooms, according to the May 2014 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report. The Under Contract data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Unconfirmed stage.
Among the countries in the region, the United Kingdom reported the most rooms under construction with 12,056 rooms. Seven other countries reported more than 2,000 rooms under construction: Russia (9,250); Turkey (8,225); Germany (6,604); Italy (2,399); France (2,394); and Netherlands (2,362).
Please note: STR Global recently revised the pipeline definitions. What was formerly known as the Total Active Pipeline is now referred to as Under Contract. The Pre-Planning phase also has been renamed to the Unconfirmed phase.
