Detroit’s Shinola Hotel opens
Developed in partnership by Shinola and Bedrock, the 129-room Shinola Hotel opened in Detroit in early January. The hotel was developed in two historic buildings—the former T.B. Rayl & Co. department store and a former Singer sewing machine store, and developers added three new annexes to the building. The hotel includes 16,000 square-feet of retail and food-and-beverage space, including restaurant San Morello and several other restaurant, bar and lounge concepts.
F&B is overseen by NoHo Hospitality Group and the hotel is operated by Mac&Lo Hospitality. Detroit’s Kraemer Design Group was architect of record and historic consultant on the project. Gachot Studios did the interior design.

The Greenwich, Connecticut-based Greenwich Hospitality Group acquired the West Bay Beach Holiday Inn Resort in Traverse City, Michigan, for $23.2 million, and will renovate and rebrand it to the Delamar Traverse City. The 179-room waterfront resort was originally built in 1968 and will undergo a two-year, $10-million renovation.
New development planned for downtown Las Vegas
Developers Derek and Greg Stevens announced plans for Circa Resort & Casino in downtown Las Vegas. The gaming resort, planned to open in late 2020, is the first ground-up resort development in the area since 1980. The property will have 777 guestrooms and suites, as well as restaurants, an outdoor bar, spa, pool amphitheater and two-level casino. Steelman Partners wil oversee architecture and design and Tré Builders is the construction manager.
The Stevens brothers’ other Las Vegas development projects include the D Las Vegas, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino and Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.
