Washington leads the nation in GDP growth in the first quarter

Tech sector drives economic growth, but weak hiring keeps a lid on office demand

New data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis shows that Washington State had the fastest-growing economy in the nation in the first quarter of 2026. Washington's gross domestic product grew 4.5%, compared to 2.1% nationwide.
