Six year backlog of VOA appeals costs £300m a year

Delays in processing business rate appeals are costing businesses £300m a year and stifling their contribution to a recovery in the UK economy, according to research from business rates group CVS.

CVS says it has uncovered a backlog of over 328,000 business rate appeals at the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), the agency in charge of calculating business rates and council tax in England and Wales.
