Soc Gen hires ex Lehman’s banker James Jakeman to head UK property lending

Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking has hired former Lehman Brothers banker James Jakeman as it seeks to strengthen its London-based real estate loan origination team.

Jakeman, who joins as the investment bank’s managing director and head of UK lending on June 13, is responsible for new loan origination and will look to increase the visibility of Soc Gen’s UK lending capabilities. His mandate is to propose financing and refinancing packages to Soc Gen’s UK clients by using its balance sheet and to work with the syndication team to sell down exposure to its network of debt investors.
