Plastics Manufacturer Braskem Selects Lexington for Location of New Innovation Center

Braskem, one of the world’s largest polyolefins producer and a major producer of biopolymers on an industrial scale, started construction construction of what it calls a Renewable Innovation Center located at the Lexington Labs complex at 10 Maguire Road in in Lexington, Massachusetts, owned by Greatland Realty Partners. The Philadelphia-based plastics manufacturer said it plans to use the 35,000-square-foot facility to accelerate the development of renewable chemicals and sustainable materials. Specifically Braskem said the innovation center will expand its competencies in biotechnology, catalysis, process engineering, and innovation with a particular focus given to early-stage science and engineering related to converting biomass-based feed stocks, including sugars, cellulose, plant oils, and lignin, into sustainable chemicals and materials.
