Panattoni, the specialist logistics developer and owner, has completed its deal to let a 885,000-square-foot unit in Bristol.

Logistics giant GXO has agreed to take the entirety of Avonmouth 885, a circa 885,000-square-foot unit at Panattoni Park Avonmouth, just south of the M4 and four miles from the Port of Bristol.

It is understood that GXO has taken the shed to deliver a contract it has agreed with ecommerce giant Amazon, with CoStar News revealing in July that Amazon was set to occupy the Avonmouth facility.

The deal is the latest large letting by Panattoni, which agreed to lease a 345,000-square-foot unit to warehouse solutions and last-mile delivery business Super Smart Service in April, as revealed by CoStar News.

Labelled as the largest speculatively built warehouse in the UK, Avonmouth 885 has a circa 410,000-square-foot sister which is vacant. The pair provide 1.3 million square feet of accommodation in total.

GXO's deal in Avonmouth adds to the momentum building in the South West industrial market, with CoStar News revealing earlier this year that Waitrose is hunting for premises of around 400,000 square feet in the area. Cushman & Wakefield is instructed on that search.

Amazon confirmed that it would build a £500 million fulfilment centre at Segro's flagship Northampton site a year ago, with the ecommerce specialist looking to expand again in the UK after circa two years on inactivity in growing its portfolio in the country.

Colliers, DTRE, JLL and Savills acted for Panattoni. Panattoni, DTRE and Savills declined to comment.
