Sacramento Saw Modest Job Growth, but Coronavirus Related Employment Losses Loom

CoStar Insight: Local Unemployment Expected to Skyrocket as Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Workers Lose Jobs

According to preliminary figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, metropolitan Sacramento in Northern California shed 12,000 jobs in January. On a year-over-year basis, the number of local positions increased by 1.8%. By comparison, the market's annual job growth averaged 2.9% from 2012 to 2018. January marked the fifth consecutive month employment gains have landed below 2% in the city.
