Great Canadian Entertainment announced that its $1 billion Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, a new entertainment resort billed as Canada’s largest destination casino resort, will open this summer at a 33-acre site west of Toronto.
The project, under construction for several years, is set to include a modern "Vegas-style" casino, an integrated 400-room hotel, a 5,000-seat live entertainment venue and multiple on-site dining options alongside 4800 slot machines and 145 table games.
Situated across from the existing Woodbine Racetrack, the site at 555 Rexdale Boulevard is located at the intersection of Highways 401 and 427. The new Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto is replacing the firm's existing Casino Woodbine, which will continue to operate until the new resort opens.

“We see this as an unprecedented opportunity to introduce an entirely new, world-class experience in Canada that will bring together the best in casino gaming, exceptional live entertainment, dining, and accommodation in one very special place," said Great Canadian Entertainment CEO Matthew Anfinson in a statement announcing the summer opening. The firm operates 25 gaming, entertainment and hospitality facilities in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
Together with its partner, Ontario Lottery and Gaming, Great Canadian Entertainment is focused on promoting responsible wagering at its casinos. The new Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto will include a PlaySmart Centre which provides players with gambling knowledge and tools to help build and maintain positive play habits, among other responsible gaming tools.
