Richard Crow, partner at Rapleys’ Birmingham Office, has been appointed chair of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for the West Midlands.
Crow is described as being a proactive member of the regional organisation, hosting events, delivering presentations and helping with the target of achieving 100 new female RICS-qualified members.
He has been a senior member of Rapleys’ Birmingham office at 120 Colmore Row for more than three years and has helped to grow the team, bringing in Mark Rasheed as associate and Alice Barker as surveyor, working alongside the building consultancy land development team.
Crow is also the regional lead for building consultancy for Rapleys and an expert witness.
In his new RICS position, the Rapleys partner will "help to drive the RICS member interaction regionally, to bring forward new ideas to encourage the next generation into the industry and deliver quality support to the wider surveying network".
Crow said in a statement: "It is an honour to take on this role, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members, the regional local planning authorities, Matrics and regional professionals to support and promote the industry across our region.
"I am committed to upholding the values of RICS and ensuring that we drive excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the West Midlands property and construction sector. I am personally a big advocate for nurturing future talent and gender balance within the sector and will continue to work on this topic in the new role as I have been doing on the ground."
Last month RICS passed the milestone of 100,000 members in the UK for the first time in its 157-year history, telling CoStar News at Mipim 2025 that the milestone showed it was moving on from a turbulent period that had seen a major independent review draw up a series of recommendations for improvement.
