Employment Declines in San Francisco and Silicon Valley for Third Consecutive Month

Unemployment Rate Increases to 18-Month High

The total number of people employed along the San Francisco Peninsula declined in June for the third month in a row, according to the latest estimates released by the California Employment Development Department, or the EDD. Each of the three peninsula counties saw a lower job count in June, as employers reduced payrolls and pulled back on hiring in response to the Federal Reserve’s tough anti-inflationary interest rate stance.
