San Diego unemployment rises as schools close for summer

Office-using employment slipped in June but edged up year over year

San Diego’s unemployment rate rose month over month in June for the first time since January. According to the latest jobs report released by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, the San Diego region’s unemployment rate was 4.4% in June, up from 3.9% in May. It was still below the year-ago rate of 4.7% in San Diego and the statewide rate of 5.2%.
