As England prepares for a World Cup quarter-final in the men's football tournament, the UK property world's footballing best have handed over a cheque to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research following a high-quality and ultra competitive tournament.
Stephanie Moore, widow of English footballing legend and captain of the victorious 1966 World Cup team Bobby Moore, was at CoStar's London offices this week to receive a cheque for £12,187 from representatives of the annual football Property Cup. The donation was raised recently by industry teams taking part at the day-long tournament at Loftus Road in west London.
The event was organised by LSH and Porterfield PR, and sponsored by Porterfield. CoStar News was the media sponsor.
While also confirming that it is coming home this year for England, Moore thanked the Property Cup organisers and teams for another superb tournament, and for the money raised.
"This was a big tournament for us this year, the 10th with the Property Cup. There was a magnificent turnout and fortunately no serious injuries among the 16 teams. It was very competitive with a high standard of play and the weather was great. It was a privilege to attend such a joyous occasion."
On England's progress in the World Cup so far Moore added: "I believe it is coming home after the team beat Mexico against incredible odds."
Principal organiser Jon Rea-Palmer, director in South East office agency at LSH, said: "The players here are not professional footballers and it is great to see their eyes light up when they see the quality of the pitch at Loftus Road that they play on. It was a fantastic event for a fantastic charity."
LSH was crowned the football Property Cup champions for the second time in three years thanks to goalkeeping heroics in a tense penalty shoot-out final.
The national consultancy, which beat Colliers on penalties to win the 2024 tournament, met Savills in this year's final, with the charity tournament celebrating its 60th anniversary - and 10th as the LSH Property Cup.
In its current format the tournament has raised more than £60,000 for charity, with the proceeds from this year's event once again going to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research.
CoStar Group lost on penalties in the plate final after a high-quality match with Arcadis.
Teams from LSH, Arcadis, CBRE, CoStar Group, Cushman & Wakefield, Gardiner & Theobald, Hartnell Taylor Cook, JLL, Knight Frank, Montagu Evans, Newmark, Ryan, Savills, Summix, the Office Agents Society and the Valuation Office Agency participated.
