Hiring, productivity remain strong, but paychecks lag behind

Workers take home a smaller share of the income their labor produces

The American job market pushed forward in April for a second consecutive month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ most recent jobs report. The gains followed last week’s report of stronger labor productivity in the recent quarters, possibly related to the increasing adoption of artificial technologies.
