IHG signs two hotels in West Africa

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced two hotels in West Africa via franchise deals. The first is the Crowne Plaza Lagos Ikeja, a 119-room hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, due to open in 2028 with owner Watercress Hotel International and operator Valor Hospitality Partners. The second, also with Valor but with owner Senegindia SA, is for the 150-room Holiday Inn SD City Dakar, Senegal, due to open in 2027.

Dusit plans hotel in Saudi Arabia

In 2027, Dusit International plans to open the DusitD2 Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. As part of a management agreement with owner Al Ghadeer Group, the hotel is in the oasis of Al Ahsa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It will have 120 suites.

Ruby Hotels to debut in Greece

Ruby Group, now part of IHG, will make its debut in Greece with a 114-room hotel in Athens, in partnership with owner Primetown Development. It is planned for an opening in 2027.

PPHE, Radisson unite to develop London hotel

PPHE Hotel Group and Radisson Hotel Group are joining forces once again. This time the partnership will be to open a Radisson Red hotel in the Aldgate East district of London. Top open in 2029, the hotel will have 182 rooms.

JW Marriott brand opens first hotel in Greece

Marriott International and owner Vasilakis SA have debuted the JW Marriott brand in Greece with the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa. The 160-room hotel is in Marathi, a coastal spot, 10 miles east of Chania.

Destination by Hyatt opens in Mallorca

Hyatt Hotels Corp. has brought its Destination by Hyatt brand to Mallorca with the late June opening of the 184-room Sarena de Muro Resort Mallorca, adjacent to the island’s S’Albufera Natural Park. Bain Capital and Stoneweg Hospitality SL are the property's owners.

Scandic plans hotel conversion in Oslo

Scandic Hotels plans to convert one of its existing hotels, the Scandic Grensen, in Oslo into Norway’s first Scandic Go property. The hotel is due to open in the first half of 2026 and have 96 rooms.

Wyndham opens another Dolce hotel in Denmark

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has opened its fourth Dolce by Wyndham-branded hotel in Denmark with the 198-room Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg, Dolce by Wyndham, a 16-floor hotel owned by Comwell AS in the city of Aalborg. It is a conversion of the former Hotel Hvide Hus.

Casa Cook opens hotel in the Dolomites

Casa Cook Hotels has opened the adults-only Casa Cook Madonna in the Italian town of Madonna di Campiglio in the Dolomite Mountains. The property, owned by JP Hospitality, has 50 guestrooms and is the brand’s first mountain hotel.

1912 Hotels acquires UK property

1912 Hotels St Pauls Ltd., the new U.K. division of Hamburg-based 1912 Hotels GmbH, has signed its first deal in the country with the acquisition from Lone Star Funds of the 169-room St Paul’s Hotel & Spa in Sheffield. Until the date of its latest transaction, the hotel traded as a Mercure hotel, a brand belonging to Accor.

Safestay signs franchise deal in Austria

Hostel operator Safestay has signed its first franchise agreement in Kitzbühel, Austria. A partnership with hostel owner and operator Sycomore Entwicklungen GmbH will see two properties — Guesthouse Johanna and the Roomie Alps Design Hostel Kitzbühel — converted and repositioned as the single Safestay Kitzbühel Alpine, which will have 70 beds.

Whitbread to open hotel in Dublin

Whitbread PLC announced it will open a hotel in the Sandyford Business Park area of Dublin. Planning permission has been granted to construct a 157-room Premier Inn hotel, which will be the sixth hotel in the Irish capital and immediate surroundings.

Park Hyatt opens in South Africa's capital

The Park Hyatt brand has come to South Africa in the form of the July opening of the 31-room Park Hyatt Johannesburg. It is in the city’s Rosebank neighborhood, and its owner is local firm Millat Properties.

InterContinental hotel coming to Manchester

IHG Hotels & Resorts plans to open the InterContinental Manchester Deansgate in 2027 in Manchester, England, with owner Blue Manchester Hotel Ltd. The 264-room hotel, which will operate as The Manchester Deansgate Hotel until the handover, will be fourth IHG hotel in the U.K. for its brand InterContinental.
